KOMBO’s TRIBUTES TO DREAM OF ZANZIBAR
On 24th July 2019, Hon. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, Minister of Information, Tourism and Heritage kept his promise by holding another press conference to celebrate Dream of Zanzibar for winning an award as Tanzania’s Leading Resort in the 26th Annual World Travel Awards Africa and the Indian Ocean, which was held in Mauritius.
In his remarks, Hon. Kombo highlighted that as the name of this property “Dream of Zanzibar”, it is the dream of Zanzibar as a nation to be worldly recognized as an exclusive, fascinating and attractive tourist destination. He also pointed out that it is his dream as Minister responsible for the tourism industry to witness accelerating progress in every tourism industry dimension.
He further added that Dream of Zanzibar, like Mnemba Island, Melia Zanzibar and Essque Zalu Zanzibar, collectively helped to push Zanzibar closer to its goal, which is to be worldly celebrated as a unique tourist destination.
He said, “Zanzibar has the opportunity to compete in the world as the premier tourist destination. I strongly believe this is not a daydream and with a current partnership between the public and private sectors, not even a sky is a limit. I know people have lost their faith in the beauty of Zanzibar and it is now fashionable to speak about our country in a derogatory or rather disparaging tone, claiming Zanzibar to be inferior to other tourist destinations”.
Hon. Kombo reminded all present that Zanzibar is blessed with exquisite flora and fauna as well as intriguing marine parks which allows the creation of diverse quality products, which can improve our competitive advantage as well as help in the strategy of targeting higher spending, higher quality tourists.
In his final note, the minister invited all present to participate and support the unrivaled Zanzibar Tourism Show and Awards along with inviting all present to the first-ever Zanzibar Tourism Summit.
